This weekend, High Score is excited to be taking part in Gamers for Giving in partnership with Gamer Advantage.
Since 2008, Gamers for Giving has become one of the largest competitive gaming tournament, streaming marathon, and LAN parties in the United States. Along with giving players a chance to test their skills against others, Gamers for Giving helps generate resources for the initiatives of Gamers Outreach which provides “GO Karts” (Gamers Outreach Karts) to hospitals, giving children a way to play games when they are unable to leave their rooms. While Gamers Outreach started in Ann Arbor, Michigan, their reach has expanded across the US, bringing the joy and comfort of games to thousands of children every year.
Hospitals can be a stressful and scary place, especially for children. Video games can help hospitalized children find a release, bringing them a way to have fun that was previously unavailable to them.
We are proud to be a part of the gaming community and are honored that Gamers for Giving has included us in their annual event this year. Games have given us all countless hours of entertainment and helped forge lifelong friendships. Being able to be part of a group of organizations that are coming together to help bring that joy to children is a great honor.
This year’s tournaments will include CS:GO, Overwatch, Rocket League, League of Legends, StarCraft II, Hearthstone, Fortnite, PUBG, Call of Duty: Black Ops IV, Apex Legends, Halo 3, and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
Casual LAN tournaments will include Quake Live, Unreal Tournament 2004, Rocket League, Magic The Gathering: Arena, DotA, CS 1.6, and StarCraft: Broodwar.
Gamers for Giving takes place on March 23 and 24 at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center. If you would like to join in on the action, you can register here. Spectators are welcome to come and watch the fun. There is no charge for spectating.
