Sounds like PUBG is Coming to PS4

Last week, we talked about the origins of Battle Royale mode. One of the big pieces of the growth of the game mode is PUBG. Arguably, it was PUBG that started the craze.

And despite PUBG coming out first and selling over 50 million units since its release last year, the indie-made game has been shoved into the position of little brother to the pop culture smash Fortnite.

Bluehole’s game has, when it comes to consoles, been an Xbox exclusive since release… or pre-release? Until earlier this month, the game was listed as a “game preview” and upon official release, a snazzy new Xbox controller was put on sale to celebrate. Still, it sounds like the new controller isn’t enough to keep PUBG as an Xbox exclusive.

Eagle-eyed Twitter user Nibellion spotted a PS4 version of PUBG listed on the Korean ratings board, suggesting that the game is coming to Sony’s console in the near future.

Exclusives are always a great way for console makers to gloat – they stand as jewels in a crown. With the Spider-Man exclusive on PS4, Sony already has one of the biggest jewels around, and if they can take away Xbox’s PUBG ruby, that’ll be a hit for Microsoft.

At the same time, you don’t see many games sell big numbers two years after release, but with games like Overwatch, Fortnite, and Rocket League breaking that norm, maybe the games market has shifted. Only time will tell.
