Save the World Delayed

Epic Pushes Fortnite’s Save the World Out More than a Fortnight

Way back in July 2017, Epic released a new game mode for Fortnite called Save the World the mode, released as “early-access” was something players had to pay for, but if you’re a cheapy peepy like me, you chose to wait. After all, Epic made it clear that Save the World would become free to play before the end of 2018, and I’m patient as all get out.

But now, my patience is being tested…

Today, Epic announced that those of us who want it all for free will have t wait a little longer. Save the World’s wide release has been moved out of this year an into 2019. The reason is sound – Fortnite has grown faster than anyone could have expected, and Epic doesn’t want to releases a game mode to the masses that may have issues. One of the main things that helped make Fortnite become such a hit is the game’s ease of use, and any backend bugs in Save the World could seriously damage the game’s future.

And while we all get it, our lizard brains still want to get in on the fun stuff – without having to pay – and see what all the hubbub is about for ourselves.

At the same time, this just means we have more time to play Red Dead Redemption 2, so it isn’t all bad news! Yay!
