High Score Interview: Aquinas Esports Player Darrian “Dragon Keeper” Corrigan

Welcome to the High Score Esports College Players Interview Series!

Each week, we’ll be talking with, as the name may have tipped you off to, collegiate esports players. We’re starting off with the players of Aquinas College, and want to send a special thanks to Aquinas Esports Head Coach Adam Antor for giving us access to the teams.

Now let’s introduce you to Darrian “Dragon Keeper” Corrigan, who takes on the role of Tank for the Aquinas Overwatch team…

What first got you into games?
My older brother Tom showed me the world of video games. I always got the hand me down console, but I was never mad.

What drew you to Overwatch?
The competitive nature of the game, and the beautiful art style of Blizzard.

Which character do you play? Why?
I started off with D.Va but moved on to understand all of the Tanks. Now I play Tank as my hard set role in Overwatch. My new main hero is Sigma.

What do you see as your main goal as a Tank?
To protect our Healers, to make space for the DPS, and take advantage of opportunities for gaining ground on the other team.

What do you see as your team’s main advantage?
We’re highly aggressive. We know how to show immense energy.

Coming in as a Freshman and joining a new esports program, what excites you the most about Aquinas?
The beautiful campus and our amazing esports group.

When you’re not practicing Overwatch or studying, what games do you play?
Whatever games are multiplayer, I tend to stick to Overwatch so I can master the game.
