Return of the Commodore 64 C64Mini

All Hands on Deck! The Commodore is Back!

In 1982, while E.T.: The Extraterrestrial was beating the pants off of The Thing in theaters, Commodore Business Machines jumped head first into the home computer market. Originally made to take on the Apple II, the Commodore 64 soon found itself being less of a computer and more of a console.

Families that wanted a home computer but didn’t want to shell out the $1200 for an Apple II loved the Commodore 64 price – just $600. They loved it so much that the Commodore 64 sold upwards of 17 million units. The Commodore was the gaming system of choice for the fancy gamer. But then Mario showed up and Nintendo basically wiped out any form of competition. In 1994, Commodore Business Machines filed for bankruptcy.

Still, the Commodore name is one that gamers speak with respect. Even today, we look back at the system with great love, and that is why today’s news is so exciting. The C64 Mini, first announced way back in April 2016, is finally coming to stores. This October 9, you and your pals will be able to play 64 of the best Commodore games ever made. Which games, you ask? Well, check out this video, then scroll on down past it and see the full list!
