For nearly a decade now, League of Legends has been an unstoppable force in the game community, and its fanbase is still growing. In response to that, like any good developer, Riot Games keeps making updates to the game. One of the more common updates – something players like because it brings in a new design and developers like because it won’t break anything – is new skins.
One of the cooler skins in League of Legends is the Blood Moon Thresh. You can buy it in the game for 975 RP or if you happen to be in the Netherlands, you can literally bleed for it.
Riot has teamed up with the Dutch blood supply foundation Sanquin to promote blood donations by offering a free download of the Blood Moon Thresh skin to first-time donors. The Netherlands has been dealing with a big decrease in blood donors recently, which can be a literal life or death problem. The hope is that by teaming up with Riot Games to offer the Blood Moon Thresh, they’ll see a lot of new hemoglobins coming by. Am I using hemoglobin right? I know it has to do with blood, but I’m not a blood scientist.
