Pokemon Expands, Goes to a Mystery Dungeon, and then Comes Home

The latest Nintendo Direct went down this morning, and if you’re a fan of Pokemon, you probably loved it.

The animal fighting franchise was the focus of the 20-minute presentation today and from the reactions we’ve seen, all you Pokemon Trainers our there are pretty happy with what you saw. But what if you missed the fun? After all, it was pretty early in the morning, especially if you live on the West Coast. Well, cry no more, friends, we’ve got the basics right here!

Expansion Passes

Breaking away from the traditional 3rd edition of a Pokemon game, Pokemon Sword and Shield will be getting an expansion passes. The passes will include new creatures (with at least one legendary), new locations and zones like The Isle of Armor and The Crown of Tundra, and more fun cosmetic options. The Isle of Armor will be released in June 2020 with The Crown of Tundra coming this fall. The expansion passes will set you back $29.99 each. You can pre-order them today and get yourself some fun Pikachu and Eevee uniform bonuses!

Mystery Dungeon!

Also announced was a remake of 2006’s dungeon crawler Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team. Titled Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, the game will be available on Switch in March, but the demo is available today, and your save in the demo will transfer to the full game when you buy it. So that’s fun.

Pokemon Home

Finally, we got a… well, look is a strong word. We got an idea of a thing that will exist next month. Pokemon Home is a new transfer app for all your Pokemon fun, and it’ll be released sometime in February and will cost you some amount of money. It was all kinda vague.

If you want to see the whole Nintendo Direct presentation, you can look down like less than an inch and see it! Have fun!
